Edel
House is a residential centre for girls, women and children
who are homeless. The service addresses the reality of those
who find themselves homeless by offering accommodation and
support. The service offers both crises and medium term
accommodation. We have the capacity of 9 family units and
24 single beds. Four of these beds are allocated to girls
14 - 18 years who require emergency accommodation.
Goals
of the Services
- To
provide accommodation and support to each person
- To
provide an individual care plan for each resident
- To
assess cause of homelessness
- To
build each person's self esteem and self confidence
- To
secure suitable accommodation for each resident as soon
as possible
- To
advocate on behalf of service users with other agencies
- To
liaise with other agencies both statutory and voluntary
Programmes
Our
service offers educational and social programmes to residents
during their stay. Residents are encouraged to attend training
courses or any activity that will empower them.
Activities
for children include:
- Provision
of a homework club
- Organised
play
Referrals
Edel
House is a self-referral agency. Referrals can also be made
by other agencies both statutory and voluntary.
